… to the Fantasy Fangirls February newsletter!
Holy moly, the whirlwind that was the beginning of 2025 is officially slowing down, but wow, we’re still on cloud nine!
So many dreams came true this month that we might need a Dain Aetos slap (with a thank you, of course) to make us realize this is real! We kicked off February interviewing Rebecca Yarros on her last stop of the Onyx Storm tour, and are still blown away by what she shared with us! Along with the amazingness of the interview was all of your support and celebration in response to this big moment. This community’s cheer of excitement, pride, and genuine love was felt by both of us on a level we can’t even begin to describe. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Plus, we were so fortunate to record the interview (literally, someone pinch us please!) which you can listen to here!
Then it was off to the races diving deeeeeeep into Onyx Storm! This has been one of the most exciting, informative, fun deep dives we’ve done and we feel like we’re just getting started as we move into the middle of the book – aka, theories and lore galore!
Lastly, the FFG team is still coming down from the high of Romantasy BookCon! Getting to meet so many of you all whether it was at a meet and greet, passing in the hall, sipping champagne at high tea, scream singing on the dance floor or at the Murder Mystery (TILL THE SWEAT DROPS DOWN MY BALLS!), was special beyond belief. This is an event we will remember forever and your energy, support, and excitement was a big part of that! We cannot wait to do it again in Orlando in October!
Goodness, if this was January and February… we cannot wait to see what’s in store for the rest of 2025!

What we’re up to…
LEXI….Reading: I’m bouncing between Legendborn (love it so much, even it’s taking me a while to finish!), Gild, Quicksilver reread and Onyx Storm for the deep dive. Theorizing: As quest squad starts traveling in our Onyx Storm coverage, my mind is stuck on allll the theories about secret alliances, Papa Sorrengail, and how magic works elsewhere. Listening to: My rotation is exclusively audiobooks and Disney songs for the kids, sprinkled in with my Big Gigantic playlist whenever I work. Watching: I’ve had a stomach bug this week, which means I’m watching a lot of my favorite comfort show, M*A*S*H. Looking forward to: Getting back into a routine. These past few months have been absolutely incredible and also very busy, so I can’t help but be excited to go back to our regular craziness with weekly recording schedules, frequent walks outside, family outings, and such. | NICOLE….Reading: I have been influenced (and lovingly pressured lol) to finally start Metal Slinger by Rachel Schneider. I am at the VERY beginning but I am so excited to begin! Theorizing: WHY ARE THE CYGNISEN FLIERS LATE!?!?! WHY!?! Listening to: The Onyx Storm playlist has my whole f*cking heart - especially “Ordinary” by Alex Warren, “Darkest Hour” by Blü Eyes, and the whole Halden section Watching: I’ve been on a huge Big Bang Theory kick lately - I was looking for something that allowed me to turn my brain off and BBT was the first thing to pop up on Max, so here we are two seasons later. Looking forward to: With the craze of Onyx Storm and Romantasy BookCon done, Brett, Jake, Lexi and I are all planning a spa day and let me tell you there aren’t enough words for how excited I am. |

Inspired by the world of King Arthur, this book is easy to follow, fun enemies to lovers with great banter and I cannot WAIT to keep reading! Plus author, Alex Bracken is a GEM! About: Inspired by Arthurian fantasy, Tamsin Lark, a magicless relic hunter who teams up with her rival to track down a legendary ring that could break her brother’s curse—only to uncover dark secrets and deadly forces that threaten them both. | Sanity Manager Hayden  Spark of the EverflameBy Penn Cole Why Hayden recommends it: I'm kicking off my read of Kindred's Curse Saga in preparation for our deep dive in May! I am about half-way through Spark of the Everflame and am so intrigued by this world's magic and politics. I'm especially fascinated by this worlds' map and geography. I can't wait to see how the world opens up to us readers! About: A mortal healer becomes entangled in a world ruled by the Descended and has to navigate politics across the realms, rebellion, and self-discovery of what she’s truly capable of. |
